WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1999, the Washington Healthcare Forum is a coalition of physicians, hospitals, health plans and state associations that have joined together to improve the local health care system.
The Forum is governed by its Board of Directors
WHAT WE DO
The Forum provides a place for spirited and candid conversation among senior healthcare executives on subjects of shared interest. Through this dialogue the Forum members seek to improve their understanding of different perspectives and build relationships with fellow leaders. This engagement supports the collective efforts of our members to streamline and simplify healthcare financing and delivery in pursuit of the triple aim.
Periodically, the Forum undertakes targeted initiatives that leverage a critical mass of its members and are consistent with the Forum’s focus on system improvement. Current initiatives include:
- Administrative Simplification.The Forum has sponsored the Admin Simp program, currently operated by OneHealthPort, since 2001. Admin Simp makes it easier for health plans and providers to do business together. In partnership with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, and at the request of the Forum, OneHealthPort also serves as Washington’s State’s Lead Admin Simp Organization.
- Information Exchange. The Forum supports OneHealthPort’s effort to accelerate the secure exchange of standardized health information. In partnership with the Health Care Authority, and at the request of the Forum, OneHealthPort also serves as Washington State’s Lead Organization for Health Information Exchange.
- Public Policy. Forum members periodically convene to share perspectives on current public policy issues. While the Forum does not lobby, it does occasionally pursue opportunities for collaborative action.
In the past the Forum has also supported joint efforts on Palliative Care and Malpractice Reform. The Forum continues to explore opportunities to improve Washington State’s health care system.
